Well before we jump tuh conclusions on whether de mudda got psychological problems or not we should wait and see how how dis ting gine unfold...yuh can't rule out de possibility of foul play at dis time. But let's assume for a minute dat de mudda did dis all on her own...do you think there's any chance in hell she's gonna get dat child back?? The Child Care Board will take possession until a suitable home can be found for the child...and real women already want dah child. They said on the news that de 17 year old girl dat police was questioning actually walked into the QEH claiming that de child was hers, but after a physical examinating by doctors they said there is no way that she gave birth to anything recently. It was also reported that a bajan woman in NY called de hospital and told them that she is more than willing to adopt the child. Dah child is a hot item boy.

Well yuh got some good points. I guess I assuming dat it was fear of de unknown (whatevva it could be) dat mek she want to get rid of it. Duh must have been a reason why she din' get a abortion. I feel she need mo' help than punishment, but we don' have nearly all de facts. Or course, she might even have been coaxed into it by de fadduh. Who knows at dis point!

Exactly...who knows. We could speculate all we want, but we gotta wait till things unfold to know wuh really happen.

Well last nite on the news I heard dem say that de police got some good leads and they expect a breakthru within de next 48 hours.

Well they've found the mother of the baby...a 21 year old woman from Prospect in St. James. She was charged with child abandonment and plead guilty. I don't have all the details as yet, but hopefully I'll get more on the 7pm news. I'm really surprise she wasn't charged with attempted murder.

The 7pm news didn't give any further details as to why she did what she did or what lead police to finding her...it just said that she's on $3500 bail and must have a psychological evaluation. She is to return to court on Nov 4th.

ah few years bac i heard bout a situation ah pregnant teenager believed tuh be impregnated by a family member, it was also believed the teen was the result of an incestuous relationship since she dint know her father an she was slow(mentally challenge)....

Oh dear, this poor woman seem like she was just overwhelmed............21 with 3 babies. This type of situation always makes me sad. GB and Jock, isn't birth control free in Barbados? If it isn't, it should be. Silly churches always preaching abstinence. There is nothing more powerful than the urge for sex and the best the damn churches can do is tell the young people not to have sex. I hope the courts go easy on her because she obviously had a change of heart and went back for the baby but then get scared when she see the police.

1- Feeling overwhelmed
2 - Wuffliss & indifferent (only went back for the baby after realising that it would still get back to her)
3 - Psychologically damaged in some way.
4 - Other (?)

Why criticise the church for doing it's job? Their role is to teach a moral life which mandates abstinence if unmarried. It would be very wrong of them to teach otherwise.
Now if they were opposed to contraception then yes, that would be a one sided stance but since the majority of churches here are protestant, there is no objection to contraception per se but rather an preference for living the "right" way.
What's wrong with that? Remember that abstinence is 100% effective even if most people find it difficult to practice.

The court should respond according to the evaluation. If she has mental issues that's one thing, else no leniency.

You a hard taskmaster Jock but you right about the Church thing I guess. As a person who doesn't practice any religion or attend Church, I am ambivalent but for those who believe, I guess I shouldn't knock it.

I agree Jock. But you notice dat all of a sudden you're no longer hearing it being repeated dat "de plastic bag was tied"? Now duh got me wondering it de bag was really tied or not. Now if de bag was tied, it would mean that either she intended for de baby to die, or she just so ignorant that she didn't know it would suffocate de baby. And even if she didn't tie de bag, de mere fact dat she placed it inside a plastic bag is reckless endangerment of de child's life. I think she damn lucky tuh just get slap wid child abandonment alone. As you seh, de judge such act according tuh de evaluation.

But remember that de following day after de story broke they said it was a mistake...and dat it is not caucasian as initially reported?
This chick acted as if she didn't have a soul in de world tuh call fuh help...she cuddah call an ambulance or de police to assist her rather than leaving de child there...and I'll bet she had a cell phone with her. I suppose she had scissors with her as too cause yuh doan walk bout and "find" scissors just so.
