I always wondered if dat ever happened before. I find pole vaulting to be a dangerous and risky event.

Nah, he flick tru under de bar & land pon de bed.

Dem breaks duz very seldom result in injury cause wen de pole brek de athlete duz be driving in hard to force de max. bend into de pole.
Result is dat dey usually keep shooting forward unto the bed.

De event ent as dangerous as it look (aldoah it pretty risky). De biggest danger is in hitting de pole on yuh way down or not planting it properly doah the pit shud usually tek care of dat.

I suppose that after a vaulter experiences a pole break half way in de air, he would be a bit tentative about "driving in hard to force maximum bend". :puzzled:

Not much, unless he doesn't want to win or is a newbie.
Is that bend that loads the pole with energy needed to clear the bar.
Bear in mind that most if not all would experience something similar in training it so becomes part of the drill.
