Shouldn't be hard to find out...

From what I've read in this article, it seems that the gender test is much more complex than just simple inspection of the genital area. I'm puzzled as to why a simple inspection would not suffice. Is it possible for a man to born with a vagina rather than a penis and testicles??

Those things came to my mind too, but wouldn't a birth certificate or some official document of that nature verify the gender...or hermaphrodite status? This story reminds me of a movie where a black guy disguised as a girl to play on the women's basketball team...and was de star player of the team...can't remember the name of the movie doah.

Caster certainly looks very masculine, but I believe she is just another one of those females with an abundance of male hormones.

Which is the question at hand - is he/she more he than she or vice versa.

Well the way I'm looking at it, as long as your natural genitals say that you are female then I think that is how you should be considered in athletics...regardless of how much male hormones you may have in your body. So if a male has a girly appearance will they give him a gender test too?

If it gave him the advantage they probably would, which is the reason for this case.
At this level male athletes outperform female hence the need to ensure that females are really female & not shemale.

I still say that as long as she has a natural pokey she is female...and in my opinion dat should be the extent of the gender test.

Note...I said if she has a natural pokey...meaning that any gynecologist could dig up in she and verify if she's structurally a male or female. And I seriously doubt if any surgeon can convert a man's genitals to look EXACTLY as a female does on close inspection. Now speaking of genes, since they are so concerned about this girl's genes, then I think they should have been concern about alot of other female athletes in de past. Caster won the 800m final in 1:55.45, and the women's world record is more than 2 seconds faster...Jarmila Kratochvílová 1:53.28 Munich 26 July 1983.
