Yeah...we used tuh start wid a rock in de middle, and wrap it in a good set of paper, then put on de rubber strands.

dint you used tuh wet de paper tuh compact it?
The Captain wrote:We used to make "Tar balls" to play marble cricket and also knitted balls. You roll up a piece of cloth and then knit some cord around it with a nail. We used the tar/pitch that wrapped the hams we used to get back then, or we would remove the semi hardened tar from the 55 gallon drums that the tar used to come in, roll it into a ball and play cricket.
