Thanks fuh de pic Spoony. I picked sea grapes out there once many years ago when I had a girl who use to live in de area...but I never ventured all the way back to see de pond. So those white men use to shoot de birds only for the fun of it? When I was boy growing up in town, a white guy lived next door to me who also had a pellet rifle, and he use to shoot wild pigeons and wooddoves in de biscuit factory. I use to go with him sometimes and collect de birds as they fell, and we use take them home clean dum and cook dum. I cud say dat I eat wild meat uhready.

When next yuh coming down Spoony? It would be kool if we cud hookup and hang by your cousin's rumshop for a while. I just luv dah part of de island man. :bigok:

Gearbox wrote:Well I'm pleased to announce that I located de structure in de picture. I knew it was in the Scotland District area, so when I got into Belleplaine, St. Andrew, I showed a rasta fella de pic and told me dat de structure is down on Long Pond. Now I don't know if any of you ever went by Long Pond, but tuh get there yuh have tuh turn off de East Coast Road and unto a winding dirt\sand trail and follow it for about 200 yards.

The rasta told me that the structure was built by CO Williams some time ago, and it was used for cooking and roasting local food for the tourist on sight seeing tours.

Thanks fuh de info & de photos, GB!

Sometime when I'm in Bim, uh gine have tuh mek a trip dey & check it out.

Awrite den, in the evenings at sunset we would watch them flying from St. Lucy along the coast heading to bathsheba .
And i remember one time i asked my mother where all those birds going, she said they were going home to sleep because they were out all day and they are tired .
Now i wanted to know where they lived and she said in the forest and the hills at Martins Bay.
Some times the decline of species would depend on many things . i.e man taking the feeding grounds to build houses , or excessive hunting,
Some thing else i can remember was watching the whales moving along the coast and blowing water high in the air, we could see all this from my grand parents house at Cambridge.
Man these thing were a sight to see.
