Question

Postby Gearbox on Sun Apr 20, 2008 8:50 pm

I have a question that I'm seeking to find a logical answer to:

Why do so many people revere figures like the Pope and the Queen as if they are next best thing to God\The Creator himself??

In my laymans terms .... They take the role of God while he is absent from the earth..... not sure now where to find the ans for u but uh seen it somehow somewhere . its either the catholic church or the UN thats supposed to b the expression of God's kingdom on d earth ..... of course as said by the same ppl not God. Back in time Isreal called for a king ( because all the surrounding nations had kings), n Jah told them he was their king they didnt need one , hence they had Judges. But ofcourse eventually they had kings and Jah said they were sitting on his throne. .... because they were to rule in all fairness n goodness and foremost ... make most important amoung the ppl God's pure worship.

Now when I see how people de world over does revere de pope and how much respect and emphasis is placed on the Vatican, I does tell myself that it is nothing short of human beings worshipping other human beings. Now I can understand having spiritual leaders in the world as role models, but the pope and other religious leaders are treated as if they have been bestowed with special divine powers above all other human beings. The queen of England is treated in a similar manner. I am one individual who don't look at any other human being as been superior to another in terms of the value of his life. So I will not be caught dead bowing to any of those individuals.

sorry I ddnt realize u had typed here .
in anycase I have the same feelings as u but the scriptures helps . Read this one first ... 2timothy 3: 16,17
I took the info from one of our publications ... b sure to read the scriptures also.

Respect for rulers. Christians are also told to respect rulers of human governments. This is not because of the personal qualities of these men, some of whom may be corrupt, nor is it because they may be in position to grant special favors. Christians respect rulers because God commands it; also because of the position of responsibility the office stands for. The apostle says: “Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God.” (Ro 13:1, 2) These men, if they misuse their authority, must answer to God. The honor, or respect, due the office is rendered to the one filling that office by the Christian according to the rule: “Render to all their dues, to him who calls for the tax, the tax; to him who calls for the tribute, the tribute; to him who calls for fear, such fear; to him who calls for honor, such honor.” (Ro 13:7) The honor rendered in this particular respect by the Christian above that accorded to ordinary citizens is not a showing of partiality.
